Park City Mountain Resort for the Best Skiing in Park City

Thinking about Park City Mountain Resort for your next ski vacation?

Home to 7,300 acres, over 300 trails, 41 lifts, and eight terrain parks, Park City Mountain Resort is the ideal Utah vacation destination. Just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, it offers some of the best skiing in Park City.

The largest resort in the United States means bucket loads of variety. Park City Mountain Resort caters to all levels of skiers and snowboarders, whether you’re travelling solo or with family in tow.

Best Time to Ski Park City

January through March typically delivers the best skiing in Park City. January boasts cooler temperatures, the Sundance Film Festival, and fewer holiday crowds. Come February, there’s a well-developed snow base and still plenty of the light, dry powder Utah is known for. March in Park City means blue skies, spring conditions and an array of slope-side festivities.

Good lodging deals and snowfall totals can be found across all three months, with Mother Nature bringing the good stuff more often than not.

Is Park City Mountain Resort Right for Me?

Park City has much to offer every level of ski-ability.

Park City for Beginners: Beginners can start at the Park City Village base area and take the aptly-named First Time lift. The short, gentle trail will warm you up whether you’re new to skiing or it’s been a while since you’ve strapped on skis.

Once you’ve gained confidence, venture up the Crescent Express to Load trails ¼, ½, or ¾. All three lead into wide green run Claimjumper.

To end your day, venture onto the Silverlode Express and ski Park City Mountain Resort’s longest trail, Home Run (3.5 miles), all the way back to the base.

Park City for Intermediates: The variety and terrain offered at Park City Mountain Resort is an intermediate skiers’ dream. You’ll find amazing skiing from both village areas, however, starting at Canyons Village base and jumping on the Red Pine gondola is a guaranteed pleaser.

Warm up on the newly-widened Chicane run, then head down to the Tombstone Express lift. From the top of Tombstone an array of intermediate trails are there for the taking. Ski the glades and narrow trails back down to Tombstone or venture over to Peak 5 via Silver Spur and choose from a number of intermediate trails off Dreamscape.

Access the Park City side of Park City Mountain Resort via Quicksilver Gondola and you’ll be in intermediate skiers’ heaven. Explore runs from the Motherlode, Silverlode and Kin Con Express chairs.

Park City for Experts: The most concentrated areas of expert terrain – and the best skiing in Park City – is found on Jupiter Peak and Jupiter Bowl, accessed via the Park City Village base area, and on Murdock Peak and Ninety-nine 90, accessed via Canyons Village.

For double black runs from all of the above, some hiking and traversing is required. If hiking isn’t your thing, stick with double blacks accessed from Super Condor and the Ninety-nine 90 Express, Canyons side, and McConkey’s Express and the Jupiter Lift, Park City Village side.

After dark, adults are equally well catered to thanks to High West Distillery at the base of Park City’s Quittin’ Time run, the cat-drawn sleigh ride to a Viking Yurt, or the fancy Waldorf Astoria Arctic Lounge in Canyons Village.
