Insider Tips

On a powder day ski over to the Gad 2 lift. If you follow the groomed trail at the top of the Gad 2, keep your eye out to the left for the Red Lens Line or Tiger Tail access gate. If it’s open, head on over and keep your speed up on the traverse trail.

The skiing is tight and deep on powder days, plus you can access fantastic tree skiing and chutes.

Pull out early to get back to the Gad 2 or treat yourself all the way to the Baby Thunder Lift.

It’s hard to beat the skiing at Snowbird Resort!

Unbelievable terrain awaits you after the spectacular ride up to the top of the mountain in the gondola. Never before have I gone from one part of a resort to another through a tunnel!! Snowbird delivers the goods, even days after a huge dump! Definitely allow yourself a couple of days to explore and make the most out of what this wonderful resort has to offer!!

Snowbird, what a great resort! Thigh burning runs and plenty of steeps.

Something for everyone at Snowbird -the variety is fantastic. Whatever terrain you like to ski you will find it at Snowbird.

Mineral basin was my favourite,  you can spend the morning skiing in the trees or skiing the bowl and then move over to Gad Valley for the afternoon.( to finally wear out your legs).

Snowbird is a huge mountain to ski and I was happily exhausted at the end of every skiing day here.

Wayne Vardanega- Snowbird Review

Snowbird has a very different feel to many other resorts.

Its steep cliffs, rocky outcrops and large cable car gives it a European feel. With two separate ski areas, isolated by a high mountain, the ski through tunnel is a unique experience.

Snowbird receives some of the highest snow falls in Utah with the top station being at 11,000 feet.

The snow quality and mountain infrastructure is superb.

We stayed 10 nights at the Lodge at Snowbird. The rooms were very spacious, well furnished and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. The in house bar had a great selection of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. It’s a credit to the chief for the quality of all the meals. Their staff are very friendly and efficient. The hotel’s storage for the ski equipment is only a five minute walk to the ticket office and ski lifts. And what a magnificent mountain to ski.

We then went to the Snow Flower Condominiums at Park City. Again we couldn’t fault the apartment, it was spacious, well furnished, quiet and again comfortable beds. The condominium is very close to First Time and Eagle lifts, that gives great access to the mountain. There is also a ticket office at the base of these lifts.

Snow Flower is a short walk to Park City Mountain Resort that has an excellent selection of bars and restaurants. There is complementary transport to Main Street from PCMR. The free transport also has regular routes to Supermarkets, Outlet stores and to Deer Valley and Canyons Ski Resorts.

We’re already planning our 2013 ski holiday back to Snowbird and Park City with Briony at Mecca Travel. Her knowledge of the resorts and surrounding areas is outstanding. The accommodation and transfers were hassle free giving us a tremendous holiday. Thanks Mecca Travel!!

My first impression of the mountain was ‘Wow!’ how will I ski down that!

I traveled to Snowbird in 2011 after a week’s skiing at Park City. After arriving late morning I got straight into the tram (multiple people mover), it was snowing heavily and I found it a bit challenging choosing the first run. The snow was great and there was no problem once moving.

On settling into the resort I loved the people tunnel through the mountain (aka the Peruvian Tunnel) with a moving walkway plus music. Emerging from the tunnel into Mineral Basin, presented a stunning view of the mountains and some fabulous runs.

Snowbird is a skier’s resort and a bit quieter at night than Park City- still has bars, restaurants and a small supermarket.

It’s high, around 11,000 feet at the top and I could feel the effect of the altitude for the first few days.

Alta Resort, linked to Snowbird, was a bonus and quite different but still some challenging skiing. The groomed runs were fun.

Snowbird attracts snow and you will not be disappointed with the skiing at this resort.
