Park City

Park City is the largest ski and snowboard resort in the United States

Featuring over 7,300 acres of skiable terrain, 17 peaks, 300 trails and 38 chair lifts. Accessible via both Park City and Canyons Village base areas, as well as the Town Lift on bustling Main Street, the newly-formed mega-resort features a variety of trails, a range of children’s programmes, adaptive lessons, and challenging terrain parks, making it equally engaging for thrill-seekers and families.

On the Park City Mountain side of Park City, intermediate skiers eager to stretch themselves will find generous amounts of groomed runs varying in pitch. Beginner skiers and boarders are well catered to, with wide, diverse mountain zones on offer. Advanced folk can adventure off-piste amongst the trees and in the open bowls. Meanwhile, freestylers can fine tune their skills and pick up tips from the pros at the superpipe or any of the four terrain parks.

Over in Canyons territory there’s terrain that caters to all abilities, plus even more perfectly groomed runs, awesome tree skiing and pristine bowls. Here skiers and boarders experience some of the most diverse ski terrain in the Northern Hemisphere, which is why the region’s widely considered a ski Mecca for advanced and expert riders. Be sure to sample the fall-line cruisers and tree skiing in the well gladed spots. For snowboarders, you’ll be spoiled for choice thanks to natural half pipes and an additional two terrain parks.

Across Park City  there’s also plenty of fun to be had when the lifts stop turning. Tackle the alpine coaster, hurtle along the zip line, or relax in an old-fashioned horse-drawn sleigh.

Insider Tips

The Ninety-Nine 90 Express takes you to the steepest and most advanced terrain. There you’ll find single and double black diamond chutes, steeps and bowls.

To experience the peak in all its glory, hit the south side of the hill early in the day after snow.

For a final lap before lunch, head toward the Red Pine Chutes. On a powder day, depending on the origin of the storm, the north side grasps the snow tightly.

Lisa Harris- Canyons Review

This resort is massive!!

At least 2 full days is my recommendation to get the most out of Canyons Resort. Zig zag through the Aspens and don’t forget to take a picture of them, they are so pretty. Take advantage of the natural half and quarter pipes found in the gullies, cruise the long stretches of groomed runs and don’t be afraid to hike to float down an untouched powder haven. Plenty of variety at Canyons to suit everyone.

Anna Crabtree- Canyons Review

Canyons Resort: A world class ski area with a quaint village feel.

The Canyons delivers an extensive range of world class facilities to suit all levels and preference. Welcoming both skiers and boarders it offers interesting and challenging terrain for both disciplines. A mere ten minute bus ride from Park City, the resort is perfect for a day trip but is also comprehensive enough to offer a longer ski holiday based on the mountain. It has a quaint alpine atmosphere yet is sophisticated enough to lose oneself in a seemingly endless labyrinth of trails and tree lines. American hospitality is available in a range of mountain houses for sating that mountain appetite, and relaxing with your buddies.

Advanced and expert level can access exhilarating terrain challenges from the summit of chairlift ‘Ninety Nine Ninety’, notably ‘Fright Gully’ and the ‘North East face’. Tree dodgers will delight in ‘Mystic Pines’, ‘the Abyss’ and the area below the Saddleback lift. Die hard enthusiasts may find it a little tame with its holiday village atmosphere, but would enjoy a day trip to experience the terrain. Only the criminally fearless take on ‘Canis Lupus’ a natural half-pipe of rollercoaster proportions. Deep powder in Saddle and Whippet Chutes reward those willing to make the hike up Murdock Peak from the top of the Super Condor Chairlift.

Beginner and Intermediate level skiers will love the long cruisey blue groomers through delightful pine clad valleys. Skiers of varying levels are able to head out together as a group because variant terrain is accessed from most lifts allowing alternate lines that culminate in a meeting spot at the bottom. It is this feature that makes Canyons the perfect mountain for group trips as it easily accommodates everybody.

An easy and comprehensive day tour is to ride the excellent lift system from the right to left of the trail map, making the way over to the Cloud Dine Cafe for lunch. The afternoon is the spent retracing the way back from Cloud Dine to the resort base. The lift network is well planned so it is easy to revisit favourite lines by simply riding the same lift up again. Finish your day with a cold beer then ride the open air gondola back to the bus stop.

Whether or not you stay there or just visit for the day, time spent at Canyons is time spent a million miles from care.
